Eric Adams's NYPD Was a Sewer of Cronyism and Corruption, Four New Lawsuits Claim

Selling promotions for $15,000, hiring friends for an elite unit because it "sounded cool," and more jaw-dropping accusations found in these complaints.

Edward Caban, the second of Mayor Eric Adams's four NYPD commissioners, resigned in September of 2024 under a stinking cloud of corruption, as the federal government was reportedly investigating him for running a nightlife protection racket with his twin brother. 

A new lawsuit filed on Monday alleges that Caban was engaging in even more brazen corruption: selling high-level NYPD promotions for as much as $15,000 apiece.
