Andrew Cuomo and President Donald Trump go way back.
In 1990, Trump made a video for Cuomo's bachelor party, telling Cuomo, "Whatever you do, Andrew, don't ever, ever fool around." (Trump was going through a divorce at the time—hey, at least it wasn't a drawing.)
And despite their differences during Trump's first term, the two men have recently reflected on their positive relationship.
"So I dealt with him as governor. He knows our situation; he knows the situation in New York City," Cuomo told Stephen A. Smith back in March. "I've always gotten along with him," Trump said a few weeks later.
On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that Cuomo and Trump have recently been in touch about an issue that is troubling them both: Zohran Mamdani's thorough spanking of Cuomo in the June Democratic primary and Mamdani's commanding lead over the rest of the candidates in the upcoming November general election.
