President Donald Trump signed the bill into law on July 4, at a White House ceremony of apparent patriotism that also featured a flyover from a B-2 Spirit bomber—the aircraft that, last month, bombed Iran.
As a result of the legislation, New York hospitals and health care systems will lose an estimated $8 billion in federal funding, according to a July 1 state estimate, resulting in about 1.5 million New Yorkers losing health care coverage.
